Self-initiated learning

If we value independence, if we are disturbed by the growing conformity of knowledge, of values, of attitudes, which our present system induces, then we may wish to set up conditions of learning which make for uniqueness, for self-direction, and for self-initiated learning.

My Fridge - Tag, you're it!

This morning my blog was tagged by my homeschooling friend Chez, who wanted to know what's in my fridge - and see a picture of it.
To be honest, there wasn't all that much in my fridge this morning:

Water, soy milk, yoghurt, soy yoghurt, cheeze, soy cheeze, several jars of soyanaise (the vegan equivalent of mayonaise), some leftovers, and cat food. That's about it. The freezer was almost empty too, empty except for a thick layer of ice...
Bread, veggies, fish for the cats, and a bag of cranberries.

So, I decided I'd better go and defrost both the fridge and the freezer.
The girls volunteered to help.

When the fridge was clean, the entire contents of the freezer fit into the freezer compartment of the fridge - and quite easily so too.

With the fridge and the freezer clean and defrosted, I finally made up a shopping list and the hubby went shopping for groceries. (He's the only one in our family with a driver's licence, so he gets to do the shopping.)

The fridge and freezer are both filled up quite a bit now:

We've got a lot more bread now - enough to last us for week - more veggies, more soy "dairy", vegetarian "meat", I guess that's about it.

So, what's in YOUR fridge?

You've inspired me to clean my fridge... or least to THINK about cleaning my fridge. Really hard.

You have shamed me into thinking about cleaning my fridge.

Un-schooling

Thank goodness I was never sent to school; it would have rubbed off some of the originality.
